  • Maintenance Tips

After installation, routine care for your home appliances is of the highest importance to keeping your machine in usable condition. By following precautionary procedures, you can prevent issues and extend the life of your home appliances through the following tips.

  • Refrigerators:

The refrigerator is more than likely the most used appliance and the largest consumer of energy in the kitchen. In order to reduce energy consumption and keep the refrigerator running, it is essential to keep it clean and up to par by the following: check the door seals, keep coils clean, clean the inside, check temperature, keep it filled.

  • Dishwashers:

Not all dishwashers can handle every type of dishes. Some cannot handle delicate items due to the extreme temperatures used in the cleaning process. Refer to the appliance manual and ensure it has a “delicate” or “china” setting to accommodate such items. To avoid rusting of dishwasher racks: gently load your dishes so you don't nick the vinyl coating, avoid overloading the dishwasher beyond it's capacity and keep sharp knives and forks away from the racks.

  • Range Hoods:

For the ductless range hoods, there are charcoal inserts that do all of the dirty work (filtering out all those smells and odors that go along with cooking). These filters must be replaced periodically or else they can become a safe haven for bacteria. Refer to your range hood manual to learn how often these should be replaced.

Ducted hoods also need maintenance. The metal filters trap grease efficiently, but will need to be washed clean in order to continue to work at maximum efficiency.
